The marathi boy prateik Babbar is the son of late actress Smita patil and actor turned politician Raj Babbar. He was born on 28th November 1986. Film maker Pralhad Kakkar was assisted by Prateik and then he got himself into ads like Kitkat and started off his acting journey from there it self.In an Amir Khan production 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Ne' he made his debut who played the role of Genelia's brother 'Amit'. He received nominations as well as critical acclamation for his performance in the movie. The movie was a hit at the box office.He then appeared in Dhobi Ghat as well. His performance in that movie received postive reviews too.In the year 2009 he was nominated as the best new comer (male) for the movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. He won the stardust award for Breakthrough performance in the year 2009, again for the movie Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Ne.He has dated his 'Ekk Diwana Tha' co- starr Amy Jackson however they are not together anymore, since they separated. In the movie he played the role of a Dhobi who wanted to get into modelling. He was then seen in Prakash jha's 'Aarakshan'. His movie 'My Friend Pinto' did not do well at the box office, it was a Sanjay Leela Bhansali production. Well, he certainly did a pretty good job within a short span of time.
