Mallika Dua

MUMBAI:  Mallika Dua is one of the most famous comedians we have in the country. She has been a part of a few films and many OTT series. The actress will next be seen in Badtameez Dil, which is slated to premiere on Amazon Mini TV on 9th June, 2023.

TellyChakkar recently interacted with Mallika and spoke to her about the series, how she handles heartbreaks and more...

The series talks about two different people, having different ideas about love and marriage. But, what’s your take on the concept of love and marriage?

Our generation has seen pre-internet and post-internet era. Love has become a commodity. You can access it on an app or at an event, you just have too many options. I think, what doesn’t change is the fact that you have to work on yourself first. You will find a lot of people, they may leave you bruised and dissatisfied. But, only you can complete yourself. That’s where I am at in life because I have everything, dating apps, friends of friends. But somehow, nothing will feel right till you are ready for it. You also have to understand that being loved and loving someone is a privilege and you have to be ready for that.

In our lives, most of us do face heartbreaks and breakups. So, if you have faced that, how did you manage it?

I become very toxic and desperate; my whole heart goes through the door (laughs). But, you have to work on it. Take that angst out somewhere. So, I am very toxic, very upset, my ego is hurt and I'm very much not okay when I'm dealing with heartbreak.

OTT censorship has always been a debate. So what do you have to say about it?

Nothing has killed, gagged or subdued careers of comedians like us and most people are quiet about it. They are doing all sorts of things except for what they are supposed to do. Censorship for an artist is poisonous, it’s like an amputation. I am in for trigger warnings that this is going to be shown. So, I don’t believe in censorship. You choose what you want to see.

Badtameez Dil also stars Barun Sobti, Ridhi Dogra and Minissha Lamba.
