MUMBAI : Bollywood filmmaker Nishikant Kamat is on life support at a hospital in Hyderabad. The 50-year old filmmaker was diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections. Actor Sharad Kelkar has confirmed to ETImes that the popular filmmaker is on life support, in a critical condition.

Filmmaker Milap Zaveri had previously shared a fond memory with filmmaker Nishikant Kamat and revealed that after speaking to someone at the hospital, he was informed that Nishikant Kamat was fighting for life and death. "Just spoke to someone who is with Nishikant in the hospital right now. He hasn’t passed away yet. Yes he is v critical and fighting life and death. But he is still alive," Milap Zaveri had posted.
Nishikant Kamat is known for directing Bollywood films like the Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer 'Drishyam', and Irrfan Khan’s 'Madaari'. He has also worked with John Abraham in two films, 'Force' and 'Rocky Handsome'. He had also helmed 'Mumbai Meri Jaan' featuring R Madhavan, Soha Ali Khan, Irrfan Khan, Paresh Rawal and Kay Kay Menon.
Nishikant Kamat is also a very popular director in Marathi cinema. He had called the shots for hits like Riteish Deshmukh starrer ‘Lai Bhaari’ as well as Swwapnil Joshi’s ‘Fugay’ and 'Dombivali Fast'.
