Get set to see Ranbir Kapoor transform into a mean gun-totting warrior in Anurag Kashyap’s much anticipated Bombay Velvet. Two posters of the movie have been released and if Ranbir’s looks are anything to go by then one can expect some mean, dark and bullet-pelting violence dished out in Anurag Kashyap style through the Kapoor scion.
The first poster had Ranbir leaning against wire mesh with hands heavily bandaged and the back of t-shirt greased to complete the street fighter role that he is essaying in the movie. The second poster however is far more exciting with his gunny look. Ranbir wearing an unbuttoned suit with disheveled hair is seen firing from two sophisticated firearms…Hello.! I am Johnny Balraj. Nice to meet you. Boooom….
Bombay Velvet is the story of Johnny Balraj, a street fighter who has inordinate ambitions of scaling greater heights in life. He falls hook line and sinker for a singer named Rosie played by Anushka Sharma. Bombay Velvet, is reportedly based on historian Gyan Prakash's book Mumbai Fables, narrates the story of how the city in '60s became a metropolis against the backdrop of love, greed, violence and jazz music. For the role, Ranbir underwent intensive boxing training in Sri Lanka and will also be seen sporting a six-packs in the movie.
From the looks of the poster, we certainly feel Anurag has a winner on hands.
