Just yesterday we had reported that in his zeal to pay an ode to Amitabh Bachchan, Anurag Kashyap has decided to dedicate a song in praise of the veteran actor in his segment of Bombay Talkies.
Now we hear that Sanjay Gupta has also paid an ode to the Deewar hero in his own way in his upcoming film Shootout at Wadala.
While Priyanka Chopra’s look in her special appearance song Babli Badmaash has been inspired by Bachchan’s 1981 hit Yaarana, an ode of sorts comes by the way of Bachchan’s trademark outfit from the chartbuster Jumma Chumma De De song being sported by John Abraham in another popular song Laila Teri Le Legi.
Says Gupta in a chat, “You can’t claim to make a film set in the bygone era and not get influenced by Bachchanji. We all have grown up watching his films. His songs like Saara Zamaana from Yaarana and Jumma Chumma (Hum) are chartbusters of the times gone by. I am proud and honoured to be living those times again with my songs.”
Wearing a white shirt, black trousers, black jacket and red stole, John who has earlier worked with Bachchan in films like Viruddh and Aetbaar matches steps with Sunny Leone, reminiscent of the yesteryear hit.
Balaji Motion Pictures’ Shootout At Wadala stars Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Kangana Ranaut, Manoj Bajpai, Tusshar, Sonu Sood, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ronit Roy, Siddhant Kapoor among many others.
It releases worldwide on 1 May (2013).
