No bold roles for me - Simran Kaur Mundi

From winning the Miss India to becoming a Bollywood actress, Simran Kaur Mundi has come a long way though her career in Bollywood is still burgeoning slowly. A well-known face in the Indian fashion scene, Simran scorched many ramps before finally reaching the pinnacle of glory by winning the Miss India crown. Bollywood soon beckoned but unfortunately Simran couldn't make quite the big impression in her first few films here.

The leggy lass is looking to break that with Ekta Kapoor's Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi where she plays the female lead opposite new comer Siddharth Gupta. Talking about how she got the role, Simran says, "I auditioned for this role and then I was informed that I have been shortlisted and was asked to come to Delhi. I reached Delhi and arrived on the sets thinking I would be auditioned again. But before I knew it I learnt that I had landed myself the role and started shooting for it."

Simran plays a simple girl-next-door in the movie called 'Mithali' who is a far cry from her usual glamorous avatar. "It was difficult to undergo this change as I am more of a glamorous girl. The first day was difficult and later on I got used to my character," explains Simran.

Though just a few films old in the industry, Simran dreams of playing roles that Kangana Ranaut essays. "If given a chance I would like to do roles like that of Kangana Ranaut. She has come up the hard way. She was fantastic in Queen."

Among the actor lot, her dream co-star with whom she would love to work with happens to be Hrithik Roshan. "Hrithik is superstar personified," says Simran and adds," Everyone knows he is the Greek God. He became a superstar just after his first film. I would love to be paired opposite him. He is a fantastic dancer which is why I wouldn't want to dance with him."

When our conversation veers towards bikini and the current trend of wearing one in Bollywood films, Simran says, " I have been a Miss India so wearing a bikini is not a problem." But Simran does admit that she will not be comfortable participating in a bold outing onscreen. Quiz her on if she would do something similar to what Sunny Leone did in Ragini MMS 2, Simran is quick to say no. "No bold roles for me."

Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi opens this Friday.
