Not worried about competition from Mardaani - Ajay Devgn

Ajay Devgn
Come August, two cop based movies will be releasing one after the other in quick succession. The first one to release would be Singham Returns where Ajay Devgn will be seen reprising his role as Bajirao Singham in this much awaited sequel of Singham. While Singham Returns opens on 15 August, just a week later, Rani Mukerji will mark her return to the silver screen with YRF’s Mardaani. Interestingly, Rani will also be seen playing a cop in the movie and like Ajay would be seen kicking some mean rears in her home production. With two cop movies lined up for release back-to-back, we wondered if Ajay was worried on the impact the latter could have on his movie. When asked whether Mardaani’s release a week later was a cause of concern, Ajay replied in negative. “Not at all. I haven’t seen the trailers of Mardaani yet but I believe it’s a good movie. And I don’t think it will affect our movie because it will release only a week after ours. So I don’t see either of them affecting one another.” While Singham Returns tackles the issue of black money, Mardaani will see Rani dealing with criminals indulging in child trafficking. Though cop-based, Singham Returns will see all those high octane stunts, exploding SUVs and other VFX laced effects that are a regular feature of a Rohit Shetty film. Mardaani, on the other hand, has Rani showcasing more hand-to-hand combat while essaying the role of a female police inspector. It was Ajay’s Son Of Sardaar’s collision with YRF’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan in 2012 that created much bad blood between the two parties last time. Much water has flown under the bridge since then. Thankfully, this time both parties are not on a collision course.
