MUMBAI : The world woke up to the heartbreaking news of 3-time National Award Winner choreographer Saroj Khan’s demise early this morning. Saroj Khan passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest. Saroj Khan, popularly called as Masterji by the film industry had a career span of over 40 years, during which she choreographed over 2,000 songs, and worked with Bollywood’s most popular actors such as Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi, Malaika Arora, Kareena Kapoor Khan, among others.
Kareena had once revealed that she would lock herself in a bathroom to practice Saroj Khan’s expressions.

It was on the dance reality show Dance India Dance that Kareena had credited Saroj Khan for her success. Kareena was a judge on the show, while Saroj Khan had appeared as a guest. It was then that Kareena shared how Saroj Khan would scold her during her initial days, and would say, “Aye Ladki, kamar hila... Raat ke ek baj rahe hain, kya kar rahi hai?” She then said that it was very difficult to impress Saroj Khan and while shooting for Refugee, Saroj Khan had told her, “you don’t know how to move your hands and legs, how did you choose to become an actress? You are Karisma’s sister.” Kareena then told Saroj Khan that she did not know how to dance.
Kareena said, “She (Saroj Khan) then told me ‘if you can’t move your hands and legs you need to dance with your face’. She used to ask me to observe her closely and watch her face when she used to perform an entire song with her expressions. This is the reason why every heroine has become a heroine today because of Master Ji. That’s all!”
Kareena further revealed that she used to lock herself up in her bathroom and practice all of Saroj Khan’s expressions because her mom always told her that if she wanted to be an actress, she must only watch Masterji’s songs and see close-ups of all heroines. She shared that Saroj Khan would show them every expression before the shot.
