Actor Shreyas Talpade unveiled the logo of his next home production- Poster Boyz- a marathi movie, yesterday in the presence of his mentor, Bollywood's showman Subhash Ghai. We caught up with this talented actor and now producer for an exclusive chit-chat.
Poster Boyz is a very catchy but quirky title. Is it an out-and-out comedy?
It is a situational comedy. Yes it is humorous. But at the same time there is a lot of drama too in the film. But the overall outline is that it’s a comedy film.
This is your second film as a producer. How difficult is it going to be this time round?
This time it is going to be difficult because last time round I had Subhash Ghai standing like a rock behind me. He literally held my hand and said ' do whatever you want.' But this time, I am on my own. So things will be slightly difficult but thankfully I have a great team in place. This is also my way of giving back Marathi film industry that brought me up like a child.
As someone who has seen SRK from close quarters, what have you learnt from him as a producer?
SRK and Om Shanti Om left a lasting textbook impression on my mind. I have learnt a lot of practical lessons from SRK. His energy is infectious. He is involved in every aspect of the film right from the screenplay to its marketing. I learnt a lot from him during Om Shanti Om and I will try and replicate the same in my movie.
Do you think the newly discovered 100 crore club will put pressure on you as a producer?
As long as you look upon the 100 crore thing as a benchmark, it is alright. But if you start taking it seriously, you will get jacked because then you are focusing more on the 100 crore club rather than the content. So as a producer, I would be focusing more on making a film that is high on content. The rest will follow.
Any plans of turning producer in Bollywood?
(Laughs) Oh no no. I will take one step at a time.
