Siddharth Basu’s Big Synergy is producing the second season of India’s Got Talent once again and as usual is charged up about the same. But why is the show going on air only in August? “There is no other reason behind it except it was always scheduled like that. Auditioning is a long process and though we have carried out the preliminary auditions we are yet to finish the main auditions etc…all that takes time and about one and a half to two months is usually the period between launch and first episode,” he says.
The show will be judged by Sajid Khan this season. He has replaced Shekhar Kapur. Why? Money issues? “I don’t know the commercial aspect of it but yes, Shekhar was busy with his film, and then Cannes, he was on jury there and the channel wanted to bring in Sajid to introduce an element of mass entertainment. And we appreciate and welcome him in our team.”
What is the quiz show supposed to be for Imagine with R Madhavan? “I am not telling you now because they are going to make an announcement shortly. But yes, it’s an interesting concept, a Swedish one which we have of course tweaked to suit Indian viewers.”
And finally, is he all geared up for Sony’s Kaun Banega Crorepati? “Well, Sony has bought the company which owns the license to the show so yes they are the owners of the format now. Yes, they have talked about doing it and I don’t know when, how, with whom it will happen but I think it will.”
