It wasn't easy for Shampa to work on a man with broken back, leg and neck: Ashish Sharma

The Rangrasiya star Ashish Sharma has turned out to be the surprise package on Colors’ Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (BBC Worldwide Productions). Ashish who is not a trained dancer has been performing extremely well week after week, by impressing the judges and the aam janta. Where was he hiding this talent all this while? “I am not at all a professional dancer. I have grown up watching actors dance in movies like most of the people out there, but I am extremely fast at grasping things. Apart from that, most of the credit goes to Shampa (his choreographer) for she started working on me a month before the show, to reinvent me in front of audiences. It wasn’t easy for her to work on a man with broken back, leg and neck,” avers the actor. Do you really have those many injuries? “I have always been associated with action shows and that has lead to a lot of irreparable injuries in my body. I have to get a CT scan done before my rehearsal,” confesses the artist. How is your relationship with Shampa? “It’s more of a teacher and a student. She understands me really well because of her skill to observe. In fact, she also puts a few of my nuances in our acts. She knows the way I write and think and that’s how she designs our acts. In fact, we also make it a point to hang out with the same group of friends to help her watch me closely.” You’ve been lucky enough to stay out of bottom two so far. “My fans have been a great support there. They’ve never let me come in that place by constantly voting for me. And they are doing this not just because they are my fans but they like what I am doing on that stage. In fact, I get a lot of feed-backs on my performances on social networking from my fans and I work towards it.” How have you been balancing between Rangrasiya and Jhalak? “I wake up at 7:30am to reach the sets of Rangrasiya at 9am. I am there till 9pm after which I have rehearsals for Jhalak at 10 pm. I am usually home by 3-3:30 am and then it’s the same routine. Usually by the time I reach the rehearsals I am half dead and Shampa feels guilty about making me work again, but then we don’t have an option.” How is your wife (Archana Taide) coping up with your work schedule? “She is having a hard time but she has been there for me and my family. She has taken three months break from work to look after me and the family. Last week I had a tough time with my crazy work schedule and with my health going down, she was there throughout. She makes it a point to call people and check if I’ve had food on time or not. None of this would have been possible without her.” Will you be taking the trophy back home this season? “I am not too sure about that, for a lot of factors contribute to one’s victory. But I’ve become more confident about my performances and I know I’ll do well there.” Keep up the good work, Ashish!
