Salman Khan doesn't like anyone buttering him up - Sajid-Farhad

Sajid-Farhad
While Sajid-Farhad have come a long way from being lyricists to script writers to finally turning directors with Entertainment, they still haven't forgotten the man who gave them their first break in Bollywood - Salman Khan. Salman using his uncanny talent spotting ability discovered Sajid- Farhad and recommended them to David Dhawan who gave the duo a break as lyricists in his movie Hum Kisise Kam Nahin way back in 2002. The next year they wrote the lyrics for Munna Bhai MBBS and their career kick-started with a big bang. Since then there has been no looking back as the duo graduated from lyric writing to script writing to finally achieving their dream of directing their own story. Acknowledging Salman Khan's helping hand Farhad says, "We got in to this industry because of Salman bhai. He is proud of us today. We even wrote Ready which was a blockbuster. We would also like to direct Bhaijan in a film at the right time." Elaborating on Salman's largesse Sajid joins in saying, "Sometimes we don’t meet him for six months on a trot. Yet he will call us and ask 'sab kuch barabar hain paise waise..Ghar var bana liya.' He is an incredible human being. He doesn’t like people buttering him up or licking his feet. He only likes and appreciates talent. He thinks we are talented and gave us a chance. He has given break to many people in the industry only on their sheer talent. And you will never see him take any credit for the same. He appreciates and respects work." While they may not have been able to direct Salman in their directorial venture, Sajid -Farhad is all praises for superstar Akshay Kumar and his work ethics. "It was kickass working Akshay," says Sajid and continues, "An actor like Akshay Kumar surprises you on sets. Whenever we used to write a script, Farhad used to say that it should be a bounded script where everything is discussed beforehand. But when we used to shoot it with Akshay, he used to enhance the scene using his brilliance and experience. He is also a super human being and always gives out positive vibes. So there was lot of comfort in shooting it. Despite being their debut venture, Sajid-Farhad shoots down the idea of feeling pressurised to deliver. "To be honest, there is no pressure on our shoulders. We are damn excited. When we thought of Akshay kumar and the dog we were nervous because we didn’t know how the dog would react. But as the shoot progressed we were happy with the outcome and Akshay was absolutely thrilled with the idea of shooting with the dog. We have made the film with a lot of enjoyment. And we believe celebrations shouldn't just happen when the movie is a hit. We believe the movie making journey should be cherished and celebrated too." Entertainment will release across India on 8 August.
