Exclusive: The Harshad Chopda interview

Harshad Chopda
The good looking and super talented Harshad Chopda makes a comeback tonight to the TV screens with 4 Lions Films' much talked about show Humsafars on Sony Entertainment Television. Paired along with newbie Shivya Pathania, the show will have Harshad playing a strict multimillionaire, owner of a fashion house. Before you get glued to your TV screens to watch him, Tellychakkar.com brings to you an exclusive interview of the actor. Read on… Firstly, shed light upon the character you are playing in Humsafars… I play Sahir Azim Chaudhary, a man who is a poet from heart but has this harsh exterior for the world. He has a past and that has created this contrasting personality in him. He is a mysterious personality but he maintains that to protect himself from getting hurt. He has a shield around him and that makes him someone who is not easily available. And that sounds exactly like Harshad in real… (Laughs) Not anymore. I am pretty reachable now and to everyone. I think the break that I took helped me a lot and now I feel I am ready to handle everything much better. Your silence and absence also created quite a lot of rumors about your love life? I feel degraded to give out explanations every now and then, and believe that silence is a much better language to deal with all of it. It sometimes gets really irritating and I have chosen to just ignore them. So tell us what made you choose this show as your comeback project? There are shows which are massy and then there are shows which are classy; this is one show which has both the appeal. It’s a proper love story and the character is a multi-layered one, something which got me agree to it as soon as I heard the story. Some decisions are best left to heart, and choosing this show was one of them. So how does it feel getting back on a set after two years? It actually feels good. I feel blessed that I took the break, as now I have come back as a blank paper ready to write a new story. This feels like my first show where I am all inquisitive about things happening, while on the other hand I am composed knowing that I have done this all. So it’s a mixed feeling which is contrasting yet nice. How about the team? I feel privileged to have Anirudh (Rajderkar)-director- and Gorky (producer) on the sets and I trust them a lot. I have given up myself on them completely. They take care of every little stuff and give us a readymade platter. Your love interest Arzoo will be different from you; so do you believe that opposites attract? I don’t know. As far as the show is concerned, yes they are different but they would be similar in a lot many ways. They are strong, egoistic yet vulnerable and emotional. They are different sides to a hologram which when comes together will shine. The character also has a close resemblance to Asad of Qubool Hai, another 4 Lions hero. Are you ready for comparisons? See if you want to compare, then you will find thousand reasons of similarity but if you look at it they are two different characters. Also I feel even when two characters are the same, it all depends on how they are presented. We both are different individuals and will surely present two completely different characters. Give us three reasons why people should watch your show? Firstly if they have liked the promo I can promise they will definitely like the show. I don’t really have three reasons but I must add that we are working hard to give viewers a great show and they should give it a try, as they won’t be disappointed. And finally any message to your fans who are waiting desperately for you to liven up their TV screens? If there is a better and bigger word for thank you, I would use that for all of them. It’s for their love that I am surviving and still in the business. I would work with my full sincerity giving in more than 100 per cent to meet their expectations. They are the best in the world and I really hope they like the show.
