Classics should never be remade - Randhir Kapoor

Bollywood's caught on a new trend that of remaking classics. While some like Agneepath have succeeded, others like Sonam's Khoobsurat sank without a trace. And not many are happy with the ongoing trend. Recently, Anil Kapoor indirectly made his displeasure known over Rohit Shetty's decision to remake Ram Lakhan. Echoing similar sentiments is Randhir Kapoor who feels classics should never be touched. "I will only watch a remake if it's better than the original. Mother India was a remake of Aurat and it was a very well made one. It's difficult to find actors who will replace iconic characters like Prithviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor or Nargis. People say that Awara should be remade with Ranbir Kapoor but I don't think it should be." The veteran actor also feels that filmmaking has become a business today and it's akin to running a shop. "Corporates have taken over. Where are producers today? It's like Coca Cola is making a film. Who is the owner of Coca Cola. No single person. It is a corporate. Gone are those olden days when we used to have good old producers pumping money. It's become a shop keeping business today." The actor will now be seen in Super Nani with Rekha. Having been in the industry for a long time now, Randhir has seen the industry undergoing a big change. Ask him if he would ever write an autobiography, Randhir jokingly shoots down that idea and says, "I have done a lot of things that I don't want the public to know. So I would never ever write one because I don't want to lie."
