Mumbai cha mulga Amit Jadhav dreams to hold concerts all across the globe and entertain the masses like his idol Michael Jackson. The ambitious crooner also wants to venture into acting. However, Amit received a jolt in his dream run when he got eliminated from X Factor this week. In an interview with TellyChakkar, Amit talks on eliminations, reality shows, inspiration and more. Excerpts from the interview… On his elimination… I am disappointed and shocked. I was surprised to see myself in the bottom two in spite of throwing in a good performance. In the face-off round I was alone against the three Sajda Sisters. Obviously they had an upper hand but still I sang better than them. They missed the track of the song many times but still I got eliminated. However it’s a reality show and someone has to get eliminated at the end of the day. I hold no grudges against anyone though I am certainly disheartened. On X Factor The show gave me a lot of exposure and provided me with the platform to show my talent. I did participate in Fame Gurukul earlier but there I got eliminated pretty early. But in X Factor I got the chance to perform and learned how to sing and dance at the same time. The show helped me to hone my abilities which will help me to further excel in life. On the musical journey… I hail from Mumbai and I was in college when I decided to take up singing seriously. I did participate in college annual functions and other inter-collegiate competitions and the appreciation I received made me realise that I can actually sing and entertain people. That’s when I decided to go for Fame Gurukul but the show didn’t work for me. I waited for another 5-6 years, sharpened my skills and then auditioned for X Factor. The journey has been good so far but now that I am eliminated from the show I have to work hard to emerge as a successful singer and performer. On inspiration… I have always drawn inspiration from the great Michael Jackson. I have learned from him how to dance and sing simultaneously. I also like Prabhudeva and Hrithik Roshan. When it comes to singing I tried to imitate Sonu Niigaam but realised that our tone doesn’t match. Right now my tone matches perfectly with KK and I am quite comfortable singing his songs. So there have been many influences in my life and I believe I am still perched on the learning curve. On Shreya Ghoshal as a mentor… She is absolutely adorable. She is good-natured and extremely helpful. I have learned a lot from her and shall definitely miss her. Other than Shreya, Sonu and Sanjay sir are also very helpful and encouraging. On the most memorable moment on X Factor The most memorable moment would be when I sang the song Jab Bhi Koi Haseena and Sonu Niigaam gave me a standing ovation. That moment I felt extremely proud and happy. On reality shows… Reality shows do provide you with a platform to get famous but there’s a lot of hard work once these shows get over. There are many who don’t have work in spite of being famous faces of different reality shows. I am absolutely aware of this fact and I know that after X Factor I have to strive a lot to become a successful singer and performer. On future plans… Lots of hard work to start with. Furthermore, I want to have concerts all across the globe like Michael Jackson. I want to sing, dance and perform on the stage. I like to act too so probably one can see me on the big screen someday. One thing is for sure that I will playback only in movies where I am also acting. I can’t lend my voice to someone else.
