Prerna Wanvari
Prerna Wanvari made a splash in the world of television with her role of Kadambari in Balaji’s Bandini. Now the actor is on a high as she is all set to essay the role of Sameer Soni’s sister in Colors’ much-awaited show Parichay. Tell us something about your role in Parichay I am playing the role of Sameer Soni’s younger sister Raveena Chopra. I am a college-going girl and my role is a positive one with some grey shades. I finally get to play my age in Parichay and I am enjoying shooting for the show. How important is the show for your career? It is very important. As an actor everyone wants to portray roles that will be remembered by the masses. My role in Parichay is a strong one as it is positive and also has grey shades. So I get to experiment and explore as an actor. Through this role I can show my talent to the world and exploit my abilities to the core. Parichay will certainly prove to be a boon for my career. This is your second show with Balaji after Bandini. Are you a favourite of the production house? I don’t know about it (laughs). But yes I like working with Balaji and the team there has become like an extended family now. Bandini was really special to me as it helped me to nurture my acting talent. After that I did few cameos with the production house. Now with Parichay I hope that I live up to the expectations and faith of Balaji. In Bandini you shared screen space with Ronit Roy and now you are acting with Sameer Soni. Do you feel intimidated or inspired to act with such big stars? I definitely feel inspired. I consider myself lucky to get an opportunity to act with such senior actors. Personally it’s a great learning experience. As professionals when the camera is on we forget who we are as individuals. We get into the character and forget everything else. So in Bandini it was not Ronit Roy but an actor who was playing the role of my father. Furthermore on the sets senior actors share valuable anecdotes and give suggestions that are really helpful. It is always good to act with actors who are so professional and excellent at their work. You are also interested to make a career in films. How different is it to work on the small and big screen? The difference is not that great. In films one gets more time to prepare as the script remains the same throughout. In television it is all about last minute changes, improvisation and spontaneity. But the basic emotions of an actor remain intact in both the mediums. One needs to be a good actor to excel in any medium. Any dream role that you want to portray? Well, I would love to see myself in Rekha’s role in the movie Umrao Jaan. I also liked Priyanka’s character in Kaminey. Can viewers see you in any upcoming reality show? I did participate in Imagine’s Nachle Ve. Though I haven’t signed anything but I would like to be part of a dance reality show like Dance India Dance. But I can never participate in a show like Bigg Boss. What are your future plans? I am currently focusing only on my acting. I want to grow as an actor. I want to do more shows on television and also be part of some good movies. I believe it is important to be a good actor and everything else falls into place.
