Actor turned producer Deepti Bhatnagar's latest venture Shaadi Street has fallen victim to the 26 July deluge in Mumbai. The show was originally scheduled to go on air in October 2005, every Friday on Star Plus. "The problem is that we have to erect a huge set of a street and due to the downpour and its aftermath, our plans went a little askew. Then I decided that I would start only after the rainy season ended. We started erecting the set only in September and it will take around three months to have it finally ready," says Deepti. The street that is being constructed in Versova in suburban Mumbai is the main protagonist in the show, that stars veteran National School of Drama artistes in key roles. The show is scheduled to go on air tentatively sometime in February 2006, if all goes well. "I am quite happy with the final oucome, although it has been a tedious job. The show is very different from the shows currently on air and really, I wanted to break away from the tag of 'only travel shows' that have been associated with our production house," laughs Deepti, as she signs off. Shaadi Street is a love story based on an American telenovella, called Brides Avenue.
