AIB's just concluded Knockout Championship received an overwhelming response where for the very first time one saw two Bollywood bindass actors getting 'roasted' alive with jokes humiliating and insulting in nature being heaped upon them. All in good spirit though. However, the event has hit a controversial note.
Before going to that, first, let’s talk about the idea of the show.
This concept of ‘roasting’ is popular in the West where celebrities are humiliated and insulted by their peers in front of the common public. AIB – Knockout too organised something similar albeit for a good reason. The money earned was donated to various charitable organizations.
The event also saw a strong Bollywood attendance with both Ranveer and Arjun's rumoured girlfriends, Deepika and Sonakshi being present respectively and cheering the boys on.
While on one hand, the session received a phenomenal response, on the other a slight controversy that erupted over certain alleged sexist jokes cracked at one of Arjun's ex girlfriends, has been buzzing in Twittersphere. Fans have been venting their ire over how Arjun sat stone-faced while alleged sexist jokes were being traded about one of his ex-girlfriends.
Denouncing the entire controversy was absolutely false and baseless, AIB's most well-known face and co-founder, Tanmay Bhatt told Tellychakkar.com, "There is not even an iota of truth in the entire controversy. No jokes sexist in nature offending women were passed. Nowhere did we allude to any one woman in particular."
Tanmay also downplayed the negative buzz on Twitter as nothing more that despicable bots. "Are we starting to take bots on Twitter seriously?"
It may well be remembered that Tanmay at Indiantelevision.com's recently concluded 'The Content Hub' conference passionately expressed his disgust at sexist jokes that tend to show women in negative light. While arguing with Asit Modi of Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah, Tanmay had pointed out that sexiest jokes should never ever be encouraged in any form.
Well, cheers to that, we say.
