Shah Rukh Khan shoots at Marine Drive after 23 years

Shah Rukh Khan

There is an often heard legend about Shah Rukh Khan and Marine Drive. When SRK first arrived on the shores of Mumbai (then Bombay) with dreams in his eyes and no money in his pocket, Marine Drive is where once strolled with his friends. And legend has it that a floppy haired SRK standing with his arms stretched at the breezy Marine Drive proudly proclaimed that he would rule this city one day. How true those words have turned out to be!

As an actor too, Marine Drive has been special for SRK. He had shot on the famous promenade in his first film Deewana. As luck would have it, Marine Drive never again featured on his shooting list for the next 23 years. The lull was broken yesterday when SRK got a chance to shoot at the same spot for YRF’s Fan. ?Needless to say, memories came back gushing for King Khan.

Says a source, “He recalled his early shooting days at the Drive, the spot where he would be waiting and basking in the sea breeze till the next shot was ready.”

Unfortunately, given his current superstardom, SRK couldn’t enjoy the time at Marine Drive like the days of yore. As soon as word spread out the SRK is shooting at Marine Drive, fans gathered and the actor had to rush back to his vanity van after every shot.

“They shot for 6 hours at a stretch and Shah Rukh was keen to be out but was aware that would only make the process tougher for the crew. He mentioned to his team how he could feel the vibe and the pulse of the city here and was endlessly recounting his initial shooting days,” reveals the source.

Well, to hear stories of SRK from SRK himself is sheer bliss, we say.
