An ardent music lover Geet Sagar has emerged as the winner of Sony’s X Factor singing over contestants Seema Jha and the Sajda Sisters. Earlier a Radio Jockey, Geet managed to strike the right chords even while suffering from a throat ailment. The talented crooner wants to entertain the world by holding live shows in the future. In an interview with TellyChakkar, Geet shares his moment of glory and unveils his future plans. Excerpts from the interview… On winning X Factor I am on cloud nine right now. The moment my name was announced as the winner I blanked out completely. I was speechless. It took a lot of time for the feeling to sink in. But I am really overwhelmed and excited. I have been talking to journalists since morning and as I love talking I am enjoying it a lot (laughs). But with this win comes lot of responsibility and expectations. And I have to gear up for it. Right now I am enjoying this moment of glory and I am flying off to my hometown Gwalior tomorrow. Rani Sahib Priyadarshini Raje Scindia messaged me and congratulated me and I know people are waiting for me back home. This win will give me the necessary confidence to move ahead in life. On the show… This show was unique in the sense that for the first time contestants performed in solos, duets and groups. Initially people got confused with the concept but later they could connect with its novelty factor. X Factor was not only about singing but a search for a complete performer. The show has changed me as a person. It helped me to grow not only professionally but personally as well. On the musical journey… I always had an inclination towards singing but never really learned it. I was a RJ for two and a half years but later quit to pursue music. I started to learn singing just a few months before I got selected for X Factor. I love music and just want to sing. Winning or losing doesn’t really matter. I must add that I have been suffering from a throat problem since the last eight years. I feel immense pain while talking loudly or singing. Still I managed to win the show. The day my ailment gets cured, I will be a rockstar. I didn’t mention this during the show as I am not a sympathy seeker, but now that I have won I can tell it to the world. On Shreya Ghoshal as a mentor… She is superb. She is too warm and sweet. I remember during the mentoring sessions she used to tell me, “Bhondhu hain tu”, and “Mein teri mummy hun, sab bolna padega.” She made me feel comfortable which gave me the confidence to perform. Not only Shreya, Sonu is my musical idol and Sanjay sir is my favourite judge as we both are very emotional as individuals. When you meet them and talk to them you get to feel the positive vibes. I also met so many other celebrities during the show. It has been a dream run for me (smiles). On the most memorable moment on X Factor… I had my share of good and bad times in the show. So during one such low phase I sang Sonu’s Ae Chand Teri Chandni Ki Kasam. After the performance he came up on the dais and started crying. He said that I have made him proud. That’s one moment I can never forget in life. On work offers… Karan Johar came during the first episode and he offered me the opportunity to sing in his upcoming movie. So that’s there and rest depends on my hard work. On future plans… Right now I have not planned anything but I want to continue singing. Personally I want to be a part of more live shows. I want to travel all across the world and perform. Bollywood singing is not the priority but if something comes my way I will definitely give a shot. Rest is all about hard work and luck.
