Pranav is out from L’iL Champs

Zee TV seems to be hitting the right notes nowadays and getting high TRPs for its shows. Last week, L’iL Champs hit a TRP high of 4.2 and it is just the second week of the series. The young kids have charmed audiences and viewers are already gearing up to participate in the public voting to choose the winner. Cashing in on the L’iL uns to entertain and hold viewer interest seems to be paying off as a well thought of strategy on the part of Zee.

Though the Friday episode this week has ‘masti’ songs as its theme, it is testing time for the L’iL Champs. The much feared elimination round has begun for nine singers on the show and Shaan comes on the stage singing “Koi kahe kehta rahe…” with Abhrakanti and Diwakar. After getting a lifeline on the last episode despite forgetting his lines, Pranav from Lucknow is out of the contest. He sings ‘Tumse milke dil ka hai jo haal’ and got B+ from all the three judges. Abhijeet said, “There was no expression, all your notes were wrong and you sang as if you had sung by rote.” Alka Yagnik and Bappi Lahiri were also similarly disappointed as Pranav had shown promise. A promising talent and one that we will see again, just that it was not his day! Sameer, Sanchita and Proteek get A+ from all three judges for their performances. Proteek sang ‘Mast….’, and got a positive feedback from the judges as he got all the high and low notes perfect. Sanchita sang ‘Gela gela dil gela…’ even better than the original track. Sameer, similarly sang ‘Aie meri zohra zabeen’ and had the audiences on the sets swaying away. All three kids went home with sponsored gift hampers for their efforts. Shraddha’s rendition of ‘No Entry’ was also well received by the judges except Abhijeet who noted that she gave more importance to her stage performance rather than on the notes. Pawani also gave an outstanding performance singing ‘Hare rama hare krishna’. Neha sings ‘Le gayi le gayi…’ and fails to impress all as she sang it without the usual spark. Gurpreet sang ‘Aao na gale lagao na’ and floored the judges with her attitude and her unusual voice quality. Armaan gives it his best singing ‘Jeene ke hai chaar din’ and conveys the masti and josh in the song and has Alka Yagnik say, “You have brought out the child in you singing it in the right spirit.” “Catch em young,” is what Gajendrra Siingh aims to achieve with this show. As the music directors coach these kids during the rehearsals with the live band, one can see the stress that their parents undergo in keeping up a brave front so that the kids give their best.
