Sai Tamhankar wears a 200 rupee 'cheap' saree in Hunterrr

Have you seen the bright yellow sari donned by Sai Tamhankar in Hunterrr? Now guess the worth of it. A mere 200 rupees!

Oh yes, you heard it right. Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar who is one of the female leads in Hunterrr will be seen wearing 'cheap' sarees to look her character.

Revealing this was Hunterrr's director, Harshvardhan Kulkarni who said, "My brief was Sai Tamhankar should be wearing the cheapest looking saree. In fact, she is wearing a 200 rupee saree in the movie. I even instructed that the saree should be crumbled to make it look cheap."

The reason behind doing so was to make his characters look real and not larger-than-life. "The women in my movie are not exactly glamourous. They are devoid of make-up and normal looking people whom we seen in our daily life. They are real people in whom men will discover sensuality minus the make-up or glamour. Hence I asked Sai to wear this cheap saree."

While Radhika Apte was director's first choice to play one of the leads, casting Sai was an accident as Harshvardhan explains. "Sai's audition went off brilliantly but then I initially thought she looked a bit too young to pull off 35-year old woman's role. Even when you Google Sai, all you will mostly see is her bikini and other glamorous pictures. So I told her that she looked too young to play the role. But Sai was determined and wanted to play the role and showed me a few other pictures of hers in different looks which convinced me."

Hunterrr costarring Gulshan Devaiah, Radhika Apte and Sai Tamhankar will open in theaters on 20th March.
