Farhan Akhar has always been vocal about issues relating to women empowerment be it standing for their issues or lending his support through his organisation, MARD which stands for Men Against Rape and Discrimination. And now the actor joins the likes of Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman and Emma Watson to become the first male UN ambassador for women.
The actor who was recently in New York was also one of the key speakers at a UN conference on gender equality. The speech was witnessed by an august audience that included Hollywood titans like Meryl Streep, Anne Hathway, Dakota Fanning all of whom congratulated Farhan on his new role. The handsome actor even clicked a picture with the legendary Streep later on. He also reportedly met UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon and Hillary Clinton.
Farhan also later attended a star studded premiere of banned documentary, India's Daughter and strongly supported the film.
All we can say is Rock On, Farhan.
