She had her dream fulfilled when she was chosen to play one of the leads in Balaji Telefilms’ Bayttab dil ki tamanna hai but that dream was short lived as she allegedly walked out of the project at the eleventh hour. Balaji officials allegedly laid the blame on the 19-year-old but the actress maintained her silence and poise during adverse situation. Anupriya Kapoor certainly believes in letting your actions do the talking. The girl has now bagged a role in Star One’s Miley Jab Hum Tum as the female protagonist.
Says the actress, “Yes, I am playing the female protagonist on the show. Basically they are going to introduce a new couple and the track will now focus on these two characters. There is a major twist in the offing and the new male entrant and I will play the pivotal roles. Best part is I am playing my age in the show.”
Breaking the silence on her fiasco with Balaji, Kapoor says, “I was categorically told that I was playing the main lead in the show but once the shooting commenced I came to know that my character is nothing more than being second fiddle to the middle sister played by Sumana Das. I wanted to debut as a lead and so I clarified with the creative unit of the show but they insisted that I was playing the lead. It is when I decided to clarify it with the channel, I came to know that Sumana is playing the main character and Ekta Kapoor herself announced the same at the press conference of the show. She said that the USP of the show is its antagonist who is the main lead. In addition to this there were certain conditions in the contract that didn’t suit me. There was one condition which stated that if I were to leave the show I will have to serve a notice period of 11 months and with Miley… I will be asked to serve only two months notice period if at all I decided to quit. But now the issues have been ironed out mutually and I am in talking terms with Balaji. In future if they will offer me a good role I would definitely do it.”
The lady however feels that it’s not the channel but the script and role that play the key role. Says she, “It’s not the channel but the role that concerns me. Mine is a vital role and this is a good show so I think it’s a good move.”
