Television lacks good content these days, resulting to unnecessary gimmicks: Amol Palekar

Amol Palekar

The veteran actor director of Indian cinema, Amol Palekar, is all set to make his mark again on small screen, almost after a decade. And this time the man is all set to don the role of a doctor in Life OK’s upcoming venture Roshni (Pulse Media).

As we spoke to the seasoned actor, he mentioned that content of the series was the main driving force which made him give a nod to the project. “At my stage, I feel that there should be something which can make us eager to work for it. And fortunately Roshni’s content is exciting enough to give me the kick so that I look forward to work in the series.”

“Unfortunately, these days television series lacks good content and hence they opt for unnecessary gimmicks to grab eyeballs. But I am sure that we are doing something different and we can do our jobs in a proper way. Whatever the production house promised me, they are keeping their words and I am enjoying working with them,” added Palekar.

The actor, who has mostly done non-mainstream flicks and television projects, feels privileged that his works became popular. “I have never opted for mainstream films and never did anything because the trend was well liked. But thankfully even after doing such works, those have become so widely accepted. I have always made it sure that whatever I do, I will continue with my own terms.”

So, how is your experience of doing television this time? And the veteran quickly replied, “Honestly, many of colleagues and contemporary actors scared me while warning about the erratic shooting hours and such things on small screen. But nothing of that sort has yet happened and all of us are enjoying working here.”

As the talented man performs once again on small screen we wish to see some terrific performance from this ace actor turned director.
