Pakistani actor Fawad Khan is a gorgeous and gifted talent, says his "Khoobsurat" co-star Sonam Kapoor, adding that he once became "dinner table conversation" at her house.
Ahead of the & Pictures showcase of "Khoobsurat", Sonam said of her Fawad: "What does one say about a man who is a gorgeous and gifted with magnificent acting talent. When we were looking at casting for the character Vikram, we needed someone who can look regal effortlessly."
Sharing that the actor's name was suggested by several of her mother's friends who are die-hard fans of his Pakistani TV shows like “Humsafar” and “Zindagi Gulzar Hai”, the 34-year-old actress added: "Soon he became our dinner table conversation and that’s when Rhea decided to contact him for the film and as they say, rest is history."
She even said that "very few people know that he is a funny guy in real life. They get to see his shy and intense side more often though, which we don’t mind at all."
"Khoobsurat", based on the 1980 film of the same name, is directed by Shashanka Ghosh. Besides Sonam and Fawad, it was supported by a cast of talented names like Aamir Raza Hussain, Ratna Pathak Shah and Kirron Kher.
Sonam says it's a "universal film", and hopes the TV audience enjoys it.
"TV is an integral part of a household and a catalyst to bring the entire family together," she said.
“Khoobsurat” narrates the story of a free spirited physiotherapist Mili (Sonam) who enters a royal palace to treat a wheelchair bound royalty. The palace is manned by a strict and authoritative Queen Nirmala Devi, portrayed by actress Ratna Pathak.
Mili, who comes in with the approach that you need to treat the patient before you treat the disease, decides to make the dull environment fun, and in the process, she falls in love with the Prince, essayed by Fawad.
