I am excited to be back with Balaji Telefilms - Kratika Sengar

Kratika Sengar

A comeback of sorts for Kratika Sengar, to her first family!!! Yes, that’s what we can say about her return to Balaji Telefilms with their upcoming show on Colors, Kasam. After a good body of work in shows starting from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kasautii Zindagii Kay, to Jhansi Ki Rani, Punar Vivah, Service Wali Bahu, the talented actress is now back.

Here’s Kratika getting candid with Tellychakkar.com on her new role and return to TV...

What made you pick up this role?

Well, the plot, and a comeback to Balaji Telefilms is what enticed me to take this up.

Happy to get back to the Ekta camp?

I have not started shoot yet. I have only shot the promo with the Colors team so far. Working with them has been great, and it is a new channel for me. I will be starting shoot from tomorrow.

Tell us more on the excitement level of getting back to Balaji...

I am excited, nostalgic too as I will be shooting at the same old locations of my earlier Balaji shows. I guess the feeling will slowly trickle in as I get back to the ambience from tomorrow.

What have you been doing after Service Wali Bahu?

I have been travelling a lot with my hubby Nikitin Dheer. We went to the UK, London, Scotland, and then got back. We again travelled with family to Vaishnodevi, came back, only to venture out again. So it was complete family time.

Was it a conscious decision of staying away from TV?

No, nothing like that. I did not get anything meaty enough to return. And I had actually signed for two shows, and all was set. But I guess those shows have not come up yet. I guess the wait is worth it now.

Tell us about your rapport with Ssharad Malhotra, your co-star in the show?

Well, as you would be knowing, I have earlier worked with him for a web film, My father – God father. We have shot for a good 12-15 days. I shared a good rapport with him, and in fact we were comfortable working with each other from day one. The best part is that Ssharad knows my family, that is my hubby and father-in-law. One tends to share a different level of comfort when the guy you are working with, is already known to your family. The web film was produced by Esselvision and directed by my father-in-law, Pankaj Dheer.

What are the kind of preparations you are doing for your show?

I have not got a detailed narration from Ekta. So I am waiting for that moment when I will meet her. It was so sweet of Ekta to have given me this role after so many years. It is a challenge for me, and I will not let down her expectations. When a person trusts you so much, you need to put in all the efforts.

So how’s life been post marriage?

Its been really cool. I have never felt that I am married.

You need to do all the adjustments required with your family to suit your shoot schedule now. Isn’t it?

Well, acting is my passion. And they have always supported me whether it be in acting or dancing. They have never stopped me from doing anything. After all, they come from the same industry, so they know how it functions. Actually, the problem is in me. When I start to work continuously for 14-15 hours a day, I start feeling bad that I am not giving quality time to my family. Otherwise, they are most happy when I get good work, and appreciate whatever I do. They are very happy, now that I have gotten back to the grind.

How choosy are you when it comes to picking up new offers?

I am very choosy. See, I have been out of action for more than one and half years. When I do something, I really would want to like the role so that I don’t crib on a daily basis about what I am doing.

So looking back, how has your journey been as an actor?

So far, it has been very progressive, and only been good. I am very happy and content with my work. I am not a kind of person who would do too much in career. I always see to it that I have a balanced approach when it comes to work and family. This is not because I am married now, I have been like this always. In simple words, I have my priorities set.

Kratika, wish you all the very best for your new role!!
