Crazy characters that SRK has aced

Shah Rukh Khan

Playing cuckoo characters comes naturally to Shah Rukh Khan. After all, he started his B-Town journey with psychotic roles and villainous movies…even his upcoming release Fan is about an obsessed fan who can go to any length for his star.

SRK, who plays the dual roles of fan Gaurav and star Aryan, has work cut out for him. But knowing him, he would ace it as easily as he opens his arms in his signature style. Before indulging in commercial potboilers, SRK was a serious actor to reckon with.

We take a look at five of his craziest roles that made us sit up and take notice. Read on:

Darr:

Who can forget the obsessed lover who haunted Juhi Chawla’s dreams? From doing the famous ‘K-K-K-Kiran…’ to writing on her wall in blood, he made a generation of youngsters cower in fright. Is it any wonder that many crazed and one-sided lovers copied SRK in real life?

Baazigar:

While many remember the movie for Shah Rukh’s spontaneous chemistry with Kajol, we would forever associate the movie with SRK’s brilliant acting skills. As an enraged son, looking to avenge his parents, SRK was at his natural best in this blockbuster. His reserved acting in the first half and fearsome ways in the second can teach the youngsters a couple of things about being a movie star.

Anjaam:

Another case of the crazies. Another striking performance. He is hell-bent on marrying Madhuri Dixit and can go to any level to achieve that. Even though Mads gives it back to the guy who's ruined her life, it’s SRK who shines in his irrational role. Salute, sir.

Duplicate:

In a double role of good and evil, Shah Rukh proves that the romantic in him can any day turn into a criminal…albeit onscreen. As a convict on a spree to kill his partners and lookalike, SRK is believable and rather enjoyable. Kudos.

Don:

In the 2006 reboot, Shah Rukh plays a ruthless don who hatches a number of strategies to eliminate his rivals. His suave look as Don and commoner body language as Vijay (who’s also Don, by the way) are on-point…as always.
