Review: Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki is entertaining

Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki

From Kasauti Zindagii Ki, Kahin Toh Hoga to more recently Bade Achhe Lagte Hai, Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi, Balaji Telefilms has mastered the art of giving life to love sagas on screen.

Presenting the latest one from the lot, Ekta Kapoor and her creative team is all set to wave their magic wand with Color’s venture Kasam Tere Pyaar Ki

Just two episodes-old, Kasam took the vacant slot of Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi, the most favoured fairy tale romance of current time. Setting the expectation level higher, Kasam narrates the story of two star-crossed lovers.

From the revealed storyline, the show uncannily reminds us of the well-received novel November Rains, which states the romantic story of two young lovers, who part ways only to reunite in their next birth. Oh, did we mention that ‘the fault in our stars’ (fault in the leads’ astrological charts) seems to be Ekta's recent favourite plot (Even Ritik of Naagin possess certain flaws).

Apart from the novel, the daily will remind viewers of many other Balaji shows (like, MATSH, Tere Liye, Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil), which depicted the story of two childhood friends falling in love and embarking on a journey to explore their relationship.

The supporting cast, without adding extra drama, have justified their characters. Although it projects a typical north Indian township, the set doesn’t depict the same. Unlike the societal norms, breaking the stereotype, in Kasam (and most of the daily shows for that matter) the female protagonist (Tanu) is the protector of her partner. Surely the Czarina of Indian television believes in women power.

So, what’s new in the series? The answer is the fresh pairing of Ssharad Malhotra and Kratika Sengar, which we are yet to witness.

To summarise, even if the plot looks similar to Ekta’s earlier shows, we know that the lady is well aware about the show making business and definitely has something fresh for us in her store. A die-hard romantic, we believe, would not give a miss to the series. On the whole, the show might turn out to be an entertaining watch when the big names make a grand entry.

We are definitely looking forward to it.
