One of the most famous movie events in the world is going on at the beautiful French location, Cannes. The global gala sees who’s who of the glamour world in chic outfits and dramatic looks. Like always, our desi divas are in attendance on the red carpet too. We take a look at how they fared…read on:
Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan:
Let’s make one thing clear. Ash is one of the most gorgeous women in the world. But that doesn’t give her a clean chit for her misfires. In a floral Rami Kadi off-shoulder gown and lavender lips, Ash drowned our expectations in one swipe of her lip shade. Even though she looked beautiful (because she’s Ash), the lips and gown didn’t do justice to her ethereal beauty at all. Disappointed. We are all for drama, but not in for a ‘I-Just-Ate-A-Gola’ lip shade.
Sonam Kapoor:
The High Priestess of fashion was also at the event. But we were not impressed. May be it’s her choker and blah hair to be blamed. In a Ralph & Russo Couture gown with a dramatic trail, Sonam looked umm…too plain. We know she was aiming for her gown to do all the talking, but between the arm cut-outs, choker detail and awkward trail, all the talking was lost on us. There’s still time and we hope she mixes it up in her next outing. Say what, guys?
Richa Chadda:
In a Sabyasachi creation, Ms Chadha looked striking. Even if the blouse was jarring against the nude-gold sari, which itself was nothing to write home about, the on-point hair and makeup saved the day for the feisty actress. Also, we are slightly biased toward the six yards because we are total desi at heart.
Malika Sherawat:
The fish-cut Georges Hobeika gown might not be novel, but it sure was a hatke pick for Malika, who’s known for her tacky outings. The otherwise sombre gown introduced a pop of colour via the trail, which was quite clumsy. But Malika managed to carry it off, thanks to her understated styling. Another minor gripe is her hair, which partially hid her gorgeous neckpiece. An updo would have certainly elevated the look. She could have thrown in a clutch as well, just to balance out the nude palette.
