I see myself as an evolved person and actor now: Karan Kundra

Karan Kundra

Meet Karan Kundra – the eternal poster boy of the small screen. With his chiselled body, lopsided smile and ready wit, he is every girl’s dream date. It’s no wonder that he has a huge fan following. Karan, who wooed audiences with his acting skill in Kitani Mohabbat Hai and Yeh Kahan Aa Gaye Hum, made for a powerful judge on MTV Roadies X4.

In a freewheeling conversation with Tellychakkar.com, he spoke about Roadies, supernatural drama, girlfriend Anusha Dandekar and more...

There was a lot of criticism when you replaced Raghu and Rajiv, so do you think people have accepted you as a judge?

We never replaced Raghu and Rajiv. I think MTV Roadies X4 is the most successful season. The TRP charts can reveal the popularity of all seasons. There is no gali galoch and drama. Frankly speaking, I had never watched Roadies before joining the show.

You are very sophisticated in Roadies. How do you see yourself in a rough and tough show?

If you are sophisticated, it doesn’t mean that you cannot be part of a rough and tough reality series. We have some power-packed tasks, which are rough and we perform those with full energy.

You are considered as a youth icon of TV. What, according to you, helps you bond with your fans?

I think it is the spirit that I carry, which is liked by all.

Do you see yourself as a mature and evolved actor…from the time you started off?

Of course, I have met new people in life and traveled a lot.

How is your bond with your co-judges?

It is fantastic. We are like a family. Rannvijay Singh is like an elder brother, Neha Dhupia is a sweetheart and Prince Narula is a younger brother. We do a lot of masti and fun.

Talking about Yeh Kahan... The show started as a musical saga, but ended up being a supernatural drama. What do you have to say about it?

I was not aware of the changes. Yes, it started off as a different show…but whatever changes are being done by Ekta Kapoor are wonderful. Post the supernatural thing, the show is doing well. I feel an actor is never bigger than a show.

What is your take on such a theme?

I am comfortable with these types of shows as I have done it earlier too. I played a vampire in Fannah.

Have you ever imagined turning into a shape-shifting animal in real life?

I am not a child anymore!

Well, there were stories about you not getting along with your co-star Saanvi Talwar. Is everything fine?

I think whenever there is a new show or any new pairing, there are rumours around them. Everything is ok.

We also heard that you report late on sets because of which your co-stars have to suffer... Is it true?

You should ask my co-stars about this.

Tell us something about your love story with Anusha Dandekar? How did you guys meet?

We met at the MTV office last year and started talking...rest, as they say, is history. As the love story blossomed, I proposed to her.

Would you do any TV show or movie with Anusha?

Anusha is not into TV shows but would love to do a movie with her.

Finally, what are your future plans? Is marriage on the cards?

No.
