Rustom trailer is gripping and exciting!

Rustom

Continuing his streak of starring in movies inspired by real events, Akshay Kumar is back with the tantalizing thriller Rustom.

The film is said to be based on the sensational 1959 Nanawati murder case. The trailer opens with a touch of vintage, with classic shots of old Mumbai (Bombay) thrown in. It also shows us Rustom Pavri, a decorated Naval officer’s happy life with his beautiful wife and successful career.

Their love story is studded in colours, typical of the times the incident is based on. But their seemingly perfect life goes for a toss, when Rustom shoots down his wife’s lover. Thus begins a long-drawn trial, India’s last jury hearing. Was he a patriot? Was he a murderer? Was it a heat-of-the-moment crime? That’s for us to watch this August.

Akshay Kumar, trim and incredibly fit, aces the officer role with a practiced ease. His body language and dialogue delivery reflect his massive experience and love for the movies. He is ably supported by Ileana D’Cruz, who even though falters at many places, is a good choice to play the glamorous role.

Arjan Bajwa as the lover has little to do in the trailer, but we are sure that he would be apt in the movie. As the slain lover’s sister, Esha Gupta is equal parts of loud and vicious, we are waiting to see how that unfolds!

The background score conveniently shifts from peppy to subtle as the scenes change. The movie brings back the successful jodi of Akshay and Neeraj Pandey, who last collaborated in the adrenaline-rush Baby. With a suspenseful treatment and the charm of Bombay seeped in, the trailer sets the tone for a gripping and exciting movie.

Directed by debutant Tinu Suresh Desai, Rustom is set to release on 12 August.
