Janamashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna is being all over the country with much pomp and fanfare.
On Krishna Janmashtami, people welcome the cherubic baby Krishna into our homes and ply him with lots of butter, sweets and savouries to keep him happily fed.

I like to see decorated Jhakis on Janmashtami. The feeling of festival is serene. I do have friends who are firm believer of it. I like to go to Iskon temple on this occasion. I enjoy the prasad which is usually halwa on this day at Iskcon temple.

I have never broken any matka but it will be exciting to try once. I have seen many people breaking the dahi handi and it’s a tough job. It needs a lot of balance, practice and concentration. I have always been fond of Janmashtami as I am Lord Krishna’s bhakt and have also got a chance to play Krishna in Suryaputra Karn which really changed my life.

Dahi Handi is always fun. I have broken it couple of times. I was like Kanahiya in my hometown Jaipur. Lord Krishna has always intrigued me as a God. I would one day like to play Lord Krishna in a show or a film.

My family is an ardent follower of Lord Krishna. In fact my mom has adopted Krishna as her own son and at home he is taken care of just like a member of the family. I don't call myself a devotee but yes I definitely follow and observe this festival as he is considered family for us. The festival is celebrated lavishly at home with 56 kinds of Bhog and Krishna is dressed up in yellow. There is a cradle made for him with flowers and all day Bhajans are played for him. As a child I remember the excitement of the festival, I used to stay up till 12am for Janamashtami and once in a while we used to visit Iskcon temple in Delhi which used to be decked up so beautifully with flowers on this special day.

The fondest memory of my childhood is going to see Krishna Jhankis. The beautiful jhankis are decorated on Janmashtami. I am more of a spiritual person than religious so I don't really worship Lord idols, I believe in presence of Lord everywhere around us. I have always had a special bond with Lord Krishna because during my college days when I first started living alone and used to be really depressed because of loneliness I used to see Laddu Gopalji (baby Krishna) in my dreams and then I got myself Laddu Gopalji who took care of me and always guided during my journey. I feel his blessings always around me.

I am from Delhi and Janmashtami is celebrated in a grand way. I like to see decorated Jhakis of Krishna. I love to eat Kheer and Puri on this occasion. I also like to eat white makhan with parathas.

I have always been the Govinda since I was young. Mom would dress me up like the deity and all the neighbours would get Maakhan for me. It was great fun. He is a deity associated with naughtiness, power, justice and beauty. I have attended a lot of courses at Iskcon and I am always left in awe of Krishna.

I got the offer of playing the Lord Krishna recently in a TV show. This will be the first time I will be playing God and then first time I will be seen clean shaven. Playing Lord Krishna and that too I will be seen during Janmashtami was a strong reason for me to take the role. I am Lord Krishna believer. I like his persona and aura.
