Actress Prapti Chatterjee, who acted in Bengali dailies like Rajjotok, Chokher Bali and currently playing the lead in Ei Cheleta Bhelbheleta, says that enacting Goddesses for Zee Bangla's Mahalaya show, ‘Matrirupeno’, was a great experience.

The actress will be seen as Goddesses Kaushiki and Chamunda in the channel’s upcoming show, which will be aired on 30 September, 5 am.

Sharing her experience of shooting for the same, she said to Tellychakkar.com, “This was the first time that I played Goddesses. I was both anxious and excited.”

“It took around one hour and thirty minutes to get ready. Once I was ready, I was in awe. Over all, it was a great experience,” she added with a smile.

Prapti, who is a trained classical dancer, was also happy as she got the scope of showing her dancing prowess.

She expressed, “Chamunda means heavy dancing. And I love to dance so I was excited about that part of the show too.”

“I learnt Bharatanatyam for six consecutive years. But an accident had fractured my leg due to which I had to stop dancing. But as I said that I love dancing so once when I was on stage no memories of accident were there in my mind. I was in the flow and was enjoying my work thoroughly, “she added with excitement.

Various T-town actresses have played the role of Mahishasura Mardini. So, when asked whose performance she liked the most, she replied, “My aunt, (well-known actress Aparajita Adhya), who is my mother’s best friend, has played Mahishasura Mardini in the past. I have grown up watching her. She looked so mesmerizing that I always had this wish to play such a role.”

“So, I feel she has looked the best as Mahishasura Mardini,” she added.

When asked if she has informed about this development to the Praktan famed actress, Aparajita, she said, “Yes, I told her. She is excited about it.”

Are you planning to watch the show? She answered, “Watching Mahalaya programme on TV is part of our Durga Puja celebration. Especially my dida (grandmother) is super excited to watch my performance.”

“If possible, this year we all will watch the show together,” she signed off.

Way to go, pretty lady!
