In a classic game of tit for tat, Pakistan’s electronic media regulatory authority has put a ban on all Indian shows currently being streamed on Pakistani’s prime-time slots, a leading daily has reported.

The decision was apparently taken to curb Indian content on Pakistan TV as they private operators are allowed to show only ten percent foreign content, with only six percent Indian shows, the daily added. It stated further that the regulator has made it clear that strict action would be taken against channels airing foreign content.

A source close to the daily added, “Adequate time is being given to the cable operators and satellite channels to adjust their timings as per the legal requirements. Otherwise, punitive action will be taken against the two important segments from Oct 15.”

It seems that the drastic measure was taken following India’s apparent ban on Pakistani shows and artists working in India and Indian shows/movies.

Just like how popular Pakistani stories are in India, their Indian counterparts were a hit there, the daily added. It also stated that Colors was the most popular channel in Pakistani, while Naagin was the most popular show.

According to the daily, other popular shows are Yeh Hain Mohabbatein, Qubool Hai, Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai!, May I Come In Madam?
