Who says only Bollywood has a heart? Our television stars too are not far behind. Recently, Mouli Ganguly, Mazher Syed, Amit Varma, Gaurav Gera and Simple Kaul joined hands to help a woman suffering from brain cancer. 32-year-old Neelu suffered from breast cancer three years ago and was cured but it relapsed and this time the disease has led to brain cancer. She needed to undergo a series of surgeries and so the actors came to her rescue. Says Amit, "We actually thought that the surgery would require at least Rs 12 lakhs as we were told she would need to undergo multiple surgeries to be cured completely. But miraculously, she was cured in just one surgery. We had collected a good amount. The surgery took place a week ago." "Rajshree Debrath who is Mazher's good friend approached us with the problem and I just followed my heart. We don't want to glorify the entire incident but it gives me immense pleasure that we could actually do something to save a life," says Mouli. Neelu's close friend, Rajshree who's also an actress, says, "Neelu has been a fighter all her life. She is extremely strong-willed and a positive person. She was detected with breast cancer and thus underwent a surgery for the same. But then last year she was again detected with cancer which by then had spread to her brain, lungs, bones, liver and back. The doctors told there was only a 10 percent chance of the surgery to go well. Last yeard, three big lumps were spotted in her brain and that's when I asked her to go for the much-needed surgery. I am really thankful to all my friends from the industry like Amit, Mouli, Mazher, Simple, Vipul D Shah and many others who came forward to help her. She is currently recuperating and is going through her chemo therapy sessions."
