Want to break the internet with my performance: Angad Bedi

Actor Angad Bedi has left viewers stunned with his performance in the recently released Soorma. His portrayal of Bikramjeet is tagged as one of his best performances to date.

Lady luck has favoured the actor, as he himself claims.

During an interaction with TellyChakkar, the actor spoke about the reaction to his unanticipated marriage with actress Neha Dhupia and why he thinks the younger lot will never see stardom.

Angad’s sudden announcement of marrying Neha took the internet by storm. The actor has no qualms about having a low-key wedding. ‘I wish I break the internet with my performance in cinema. I’m waiting for that time.’

‘I’m glad and grateful to all the people who have supported us,’ he starts. ‘We are so used to constant news and updates. We just did a simple thing and had a simple ceremony. Our parents wanted it simple and private so we adhered to it. We are glad that people have connected with us and liked us as a couple.’

‘Marriage is a very sacred institution that we believe in. If you are sure, just go ahead and do it. Don’t think much about it.’

Angad reveals that they made a conscious decision to keep the wedding private. ‘We made a conscious decision to keep the marriage between two people and the two families. Because my father and Neha’s parents wanted it that way.’

‘I’m bit old school like that. I appreciate guys who go down on their knees. But I wanted to first seek permission from her parents. She also wanted their approval. Because our parents did that and so did our grandparents. We would like to keep that tradition going,’ he adds.

What do you think of Angad Bedi?

However, Angad never really intended for the news to break the internet. ‘I never thought about it. It was our moral responsibility to let the media know. We thought of doing that via social media. I’m glad they gave us our private time. I never thought it will break the internet.’

While discussing films, the actor also shared his thoughts on stardom. ‘Only few actors can carry the stardom. All the young lot, we are just regular actors. Stardom for me particularly is quite far. I just try to work where I can get appreciation.’

When probed if he thinks that Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan are the last flag bearers of stardom, he shares his ideology. ‘Stalwarts like Rajesh Khanna and Amitabh Bachchan have certain mannerisms. In today’s time, we don’t have any those. Mannerisms as in people want to talk like you or impersonate you. That is when you have stardom.’

‘I don’t see people wanting to mimic the younger lot. Stardom lies with Salman, Aamir, and SRK, not with us,’ he concludes.
