Want Crisscross to motivate women undergoing crisis: Priyanka Sarkar

Priyanka Sarkar

KOLKATA: Priyanka Sarkar, who will next be seen in Birsa Dasgupta’s Crisscross, says that she wants the film to act as a friend to all women who don’t receive any support during a crisis.

In the upcoming Bengali film, Priyanka is essaying the character of Suzy, a single mother who has financial issues and struggles to keep her son in school after her drug addict husband has moved out.

In real life too, the actress went through a rough phase. She is separated from her husband Rahul, also an actor, with whom she has a son, Sohoj.

When asked if there has been any learning from this film, Priyanka said to TellyChakkar, ‘I got support from many people when I was going through a difficult phase. But there are many unfortunate women who do not get any support. I would want this film to motivate all those women. I would want this film to act as their friend.’

‘These women… Suzy, Meher (played Nusrat Jahan)… have been going through a crisis for long. Crisscross highlights only one day of their life. They might face crises again in their life. They have solved their problems in different ways at different times. Every character of our film is relatable,’ she added.

The actress, who was looking stylish in a black-and-white outfit at the trailer launch of the film, also mentioned that the movie might sound very serious, but it also has entertainment value and the audience will return home with a good feeling.

Apart from Priyanka, Crisscross stars Mimi Chakraborty, Nusrat Jahan, Jaya Ahsan, and Sohini Sarkar in lead roles. So, how did the girls bond on the sets?

Priyanka shared, ‘See, Jayadi, Sohini, and I share a bond since our Rajkahini days. Whenever Jayadi comes from Bangladesh, we bond over adda. She brings food from there. The adda session takes place at my home also. I have dogs at my home. And Jayadi’s dogs stay back in Bangladesh. So, whenever she comes to my place, she showers my dogs with lots of love. She loves Sohoj a lot. So, I have spent a lot of time with Jayadi.’

‘But I loved working with Mimi and Nusrat as well. They love to eat so we mainly bonded over food. Location-wise we used to order food,’ added the actress with a smile.

Produced by SVF and also featuring Ridhima Ghosh and Arjun Chakrabarty in key roles, the film is set to hit the theatres on 10 August.
