MUMBAI: As an audience, we compliment the work of an actor or a dancer on screen, but we often forget to acknowledge the hard work of those working behind the screen. There are many such crewmembers who go to great lengths to ace a dance move or a difficult stunt sequence.
Prathmesh Dabir is one such hardworking choreographer from Nasik who is passionate about dancing and creating something new out of the old. Prathmesh has once again managed to leave the audience in awe of his technique and knowledge of choreography in Ayushmann Khurrana’s AndhaDhun.

The movie is directed by Sriram Raghavan and stars Ayushmann, Tabu, and Radhika Apte in lead roles. The title track of the movie was recently launched and has been well received. The song has been choreographed by Prathmesh.
In a tête-à-tête with TellyChakkar, Prathmesh, who has also choreographed the title track of Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming blockbuster Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2, shared his experience shooting for the song. Read on to know more!
Talking about his past work
‘I have always wanted to create something new and saw something different in things. I knew my journey would not be easy to reach my set goal, but I have never given up and nor am I giving up on something I am so passionate about anytime soon,’ says Prathmesh, who has been a part of several well-known movies such as Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri and Pari, as a choreographer.
The complete cast for the song was blind
Talking about AndhaDhun, Prathmesh shares, ‘Shooting with Ayushmann, Tabu Ma’am, and Radhika Apte has been a fun experience. Not only the lead actors but also the complete cast was playing the character of a blind person while shooting for the song sequence.’
‘What not many people would have guessed is that while shooting for the sequence, Ayushmann Khurrana was completely jet lagged. It’s not like the actor or we as performers enjoy a lavish and a relaxing life. We also struggle hard to give our audience the best we can,’ adds Prathmesh.

Fondest Memory
Talking about his fondest memory on the sets of AndhaDhun and with the lead cast of the movie, Prathmesh shares, ‘Working with Tabu Ma’am has been wonderful. I really have no words to describe her as an actress. I had always thought that she would be serious as an actress to work with, but she left all of us speechless with her work and charm. Ayushmann and Radhika Apte are simply amazing to work with and I hope to work with them again in the near future.’
Struggles faced while shooting for the song
‘Well, apart from the fact that all the shooting had to be completed in a day’s time and Ayushmann was badly jet lagged, I don’t really think there was much trouble while shooting,’ says Prathmesh.

Nasik or Mumbai?
Even though Prathmesh has been in Mumbai for a while now and has struggled a lot to reach where he is today, he misses the warmth of his hometown. ‘Who wouldn’t miss the warmth of home, but honestly, when I see the work flowing my way, I am always too prepped up and work towards reaching one stop closer to my set goal. Then that warmth is left at the back of my mind,’ he laughs and says.
‘I have loved every bit of my journey until now, but to be honest, I have a long way to go, as I feel I have a lot to achieve. With the pace I am moving, I feel I would get to see myself at my desired place soon,’ he concludes.
TellyChakkar wishes Prathmesh good luck for his goals and journey in the industry.
