Marvel series on female superheroes on TV soon

Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg is aiming to bring more female superheroes to the small screen.

ABC has given a production commitment to a series that will feature female Marvel superheroes, reports suggest so.

The exact details of the project are being kept under wraps, so there is no word yet on exactly which characters from the Marvel universe will be featured.

Heinberg will executive produce along with Marvel Television head Jeph Loeb, with Marvel TV and ABC Studios producing. Heinberg is working on the series under his overall deal with ABC Studios.

Should the project move forward, it would be the latest Marvel project to air on the broadcaster.

ABC launched Agents of SHIELD back in 2013, with the network renewing the show for a sixth season back in May. The sixth season will consist of 13 episodes. ABC also previously aired the Marvel shows’ Agent Carte and Inhumans, which have both been cancelled.

There has been much speculation about whether or not any other Marvel shows would land at ABC, given the fact that Disney is preparing to launch its own streaming service next year.

Marvel is in early development on multiple limited series that would focus on characters featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe like Loki and Scarlet Witch.

Marvel also currently has five shows on Netflix: The Punisher, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. The latter three shows debuted second seasons this year, while Daredevil is expected to launch its third yet this year.

Cary Fukunaga to direct new James Bond film

Primetime Emmy award-winning American filmmaker Cary Joji Fukunaga, best known for directing and executive producing the first season of the series True Detective, will direct the new James Bond film.

The announcement was made on Twitter on Thursday.

Michael G. Wilson, Barbara Broccoli and Daniel Craig announced today that #Bond25 will begin filming at Pinewood Studios on March 4, 2019 under the helm of director, Cary Joji Fukunaga with a worldwide release date of February 14, 2020," read a post on the official James Bond Twitter account.

"We are delighted to be working with Cary. His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure," said Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli.

Earlier, director Danny Boyle quit the James Bond franchise after he reportedly "refused to kill off Craig's 007 in spectacular finale to 25th film".

It was announced in August that Boyle had quit over "creative differences".

Ryan Coogler to produce 'Space Jam' sequel

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler will produce the sequel of animated sports comedy film Space Jam. It stars American professional basketball player LeBron James.

Andrew Dodge and Lin are writing the script for the film, reports suggest so.

The sequel will be directed by Terence Nance, whose other works include An Oversimplification of Her Beauty and Swimming in Your Skin Again.

American former professional basketball player Michael Jordan teamed up with Looney Tunes characters in 1996's Space Jam which grossed $230 million worldwide. In the film, Jordan was enlisted by Bugs Bunny and friends to help them win a basketball match against a group of aliens.

Excited about the sequel, James said "The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie. It's so much bigger.

"I'd just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don't just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people."

The Space Jam sequel is tentatively slated to release in 2019, during the NBA off-season.

"We're honoured to partner with her to exclusively create originals for the global Prime Video audience."

Morano is thrilled to be "working with the pioneers at Amazon".

Jen Salke is known for elevating content and her unwavering support for the filmmaker's vision. We share the same passionate enthusiasm for breaking the mould with provocative storytelling, and I couldn't be more excited about what we've been planning to create together," she added.

Morano's latest project was the film I Think We're Alone Now starring Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning. She made her feature debut with Meadowland, starring Olivia Wilde and Luke Wilson.

She is currently directing The Rhythm Section, a global espionage thriller featuring Blake Lively and Jude Law.

Danny Boyle's yet untitled comedy film preponed

Director Danny Boyle's upcoming directorial yet untitled comedy film which was scheduled to release on 13 September, 2019, will now open much earlier on 28 June next year.

Imagine Dragons write, record song for 'Ralph Breaks...'

Grammy-winning band Imagine Dragons has written and recorded the end-credit song "Zero" for Walt Disney Animation Studios filmRalph Breaks the Internet.

The song is available from KIDinaKORNER/Interscope Records.

In the movie, video-game bad guy Ralph struggles with his evolving friendship with fellow misfit Vanellope von Schweetz.

According to Imagine Dragons' lead singer Dan Reynolds, the film's emotional themes are reflected in the song "Zero", read a statement.

"It's a pretty timely movie in a lot of ways in that it addresses some of the issues of identity and loneliness unique to this Internet generation," said Reynolds.

"Ralph's internal struggle for self-acceptance really resonated with us, and this song speaks to that."

Directed by Rich Moore and Phil Johnston, Ralph Breaks the Internet opens in the US on 21 November.

"It's a bold choice for an end-credit song because it's about someone who feels like a zero, someone who hasn't always felt worthy, someone who's allowed his entire sense of self to rely on a single friendship. When that friendship is threatened, there's a lot of insecurity," said Moore.

Johnston added, "We can all relate to that feeling. But the song tells us we're not alone. They nailed the theme of the movie in a way that also makes you want to dance."

The song is a dichotomy in some ways, with sometimes heavy lyrics over pretty upbeat instrumentation, shared Reynolds.

"The result is a tone that is somewhat bittersweet, which felt appropriate given the complexity of Ralph as a character," he added.
