Sukesh Anand, who is part of Binaifer and Sanjay Kohli’s Jijaji Chaat Par Hain, talks about being part of the show, working with the team and how he got the part.
How is it working with the producers Sanjay and Benaifer Kohli?
I have been working for the last 17 years and I have almost done 6500 episodes of comedy. Mostly I have worked with Sab TV but now I got a chance to work with Edit II and I am so happy. So, I am blessed to work with them. The producers, the director and the whole artist team is fabulous. It’s great working with them. It’s a good experience working with such talented artists. I have heard about them since I have been in Mumbai. I have heard that they are like caring parents to the actors.
What was the last role you did?
I am doing Chandragupta Maurya in which I am playing the role of Sukhdev. It’s a comic character too. Sukhdev is the father of the lead female actor Subhada and he is a greedy and money-minded merchant.
Describe your character details?
He is an astro-guru. He is a greedy person and is fond of eating. He is a genuine astrologer with a comical twist. He will tell Murari about the problems in his life and will give him life lessons.
Tell us about the comic scenario in the industry?
I think there is a dearth of writers who can write good comedy which leads to the poor performance of actors. I think most of the creative people in the industry don't want to create new characters. They just want to copy some characters. I think there are only 5 percent of people in the industry who are creative.
Which are your favorite Bollywood Comedians? Why? Do you follow someone in doing comedy?
I don't follow anybody. But I love the work of Om Prakash ji, Mehmood Ji, Johnny Lever sir.
Jijaji Chaat Par Hain is a known show. How did you feel to be part of the show?
I am feeling blessed to be part of this show. I would like to share some interesting incidents about how I got this show. It was the day when I was in Water Kingdom with my family. I go to Water Kingdom very often as my daughter likes it. But that day my daughter insisted to carry the phone to take pictures, otherwise, I usually keep the phone in the locker. There I received a call from the production. I was so glad I had the one otherwise the role would have gone to someone else.
