MUMBAI: Gurdeep Kohli, who played the role of Jodha Bai in Daastan-E-Mohabbat Salim Anarkali, revealed why the television show had to shut down.
Dastaan-E-Mohabbat: Salim Anarkali is a historical TV series that aired on Colors TV. Starring Shaheer Sheikh and Sonarika Bhadoria in lead roles, the show premiered on 1 October 2018.
Even before its launch, the series had created a lot of buzz because of Shaheer Sheikh and his pairing with Sonarika. His fans were interested to see this new pairing in the narrative.
However, the show failed to impress the TRP chart, and thus it went off air on 4 January 2019, leaving the fans heartbroken.
Now, actress Gurdeep shared with an entertainment portal what might have compelled Dastaan-E-Mohabbat: Salim Anarkali to shut down.
She said to the portal, “Undoubtedly the show was watched and loved by the audience. But the storyline is a debatable topic. So, the makers, channel and the producers were trying to change a few things. But sadly it didn't happen the way it should have happened.”
“It was a great show. For the first time, Salim and Anarkali’s love story was being showcased on small screen. Unfortunately, it didn't do well and we had to shut down the show,” added the actress.
