These days, actors are paid as per their popularity: Kuldeep Singh

MUMBAI: There are thousands of actors who play supporting roles to the protagonists, give the film a new lease of credibility and are as, if not more, talented than the main leads. However, they do not receive as much fame and stardom as they deserve. Here, we present a list of some of the most significant Indian television, web, and Bollywood actors who we hope eventually get their due in the future.

TellyChakkar got in touch with talented actor Kuldeep Singh, who is known for his acting chops in shows like Vignharta Ganesha and Vikram Aur Betaal Ki Rahasya Gatha. The handsome lad spoke at length about his journey in the industry, getting to perform his dream roles, and more. Read on!

How did you get into acting?

I have a doctorate, but when I got in touch with a few people connected to the acting field , I was fascinated by the craft. Gradually, I didn’t realize when I came completely into this, but I am happy being an actor as well.

What projects have you done so far?

I started with episodic shows like Savdhan India, Yeh Hai Ashiqui, and Aye Zindagi. Then, I did CID for almost a year as a forensic team member, after which I bagged Vignharta Ganesha, where I am playing the roles of  Vishnu, Krisha, and Ram (my dream roles). Also, my other show Vikram Aur  Betaal Ki Rahasya Gatha has been a different experience as I play a negative character in the show.

How difficult is it to survive in an expensive city like Mumbai?

It is quite expensive to survive in Mumbai, but by the grace of God,  I have never seen a bad phase in my life on my path to becoming an actor. But yes, I have seen many people  around me who are struggling, not only to become an actor but also to survive in such an expensive city, as they need to arrange money for their rent, gym diets, grooming, etc. I salute their patience level and strength to keep fighting.

Are actors paid well?

These days, actors are paid as per their popularity. There are people who have good acting skills but are not getting paid well compared to a known face who is not that skilled in acting. It is a sad scenario.

Your tip for aspiring actors?

First of all, ask yourself, 'Do you really want to be an actor?' If yes, then work harder for it, as there is a lot of competition in the market. Focus on your strengths and keep fighting. You will face many failures, but never get disappointed. Every time you fail, try to figure out why you failed, work on that loophole, and compete again. Because acting is half shame, half glory: shame at exhibiting yourself and glory when you can forget yourself.

Well said, Kuldeep!
