MUMBAI: Anurag Kashyap, who has directed films like Manmarziyaan, has filed an FIR against a social media user who allegedly sent a rape threat to his teenage daughter, Aaliyah.
Recently, when BJP came into power again by winning the Lok Sabha Elections, the director congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the win. Along with his wish, Anurag also asked him how he should handle his followers who despise him for not being a Modi follower. The director wrote on Twitter, “Dear @narendramodi sir. Congratulations on your victory and thank you for the message of inclusiveness. Sir please also tell us how do we deal with these followers of yours who celebrate your victory by threatening my daughter with messages like this for me being your dissenter."
However, many social media users did not like Anurag’s act. Many even told him that the correct way to go about this is, seek Police’s help. Actress Suchitra Krishnamoorthi too had called out him on Twitter for his tweet to the PM. She wrote, "Dear @anuragkashyap72 I have been openly pro #Modi & yet have often rcvd rape threats for my daughter & even myself when controversy has erupted. I have done what a right thinking citizen must do ie complained to #MumbaiPolice & #cybercrime cell. NOT tag #PM!!! Whats ur point?" Anurag answered back by saying, "Point is - one statement from him that he does not endorse hatemongers will shut them up."
Anurag now has taken Police’s help. He has filed an FIR against the troll under sections 504, 509 of Indian Penal code and 67 of information technology act. Informing his fans about the same, he wrote on Twitter, “Anyways I want to thank @MumbaiPolice @MahaCyber1 @Brijeshbsingh for helping me with filing the FIR. Thank you so much for the amazing support and starting the process .Thank you @Dev_Fadnavis and thank you @narendramodi Sir. As a father I am more secure now.”
Take a look below.
The irony with social media is when I say vote for your constituent so one can take there problems to them, they say Vote for the PM. When you tag PM to the the tweet they say it’s not his responsibility go to the constituent.
