MUMBAI: Sonam Kapoor Ahuja has carved a niche for herself in the entertainment industry. She has acted in several films including Sanju, Veere Di Wedding and PadMan. However, Neerja continues to be one of the most celebrated films of the actress.
On Neerja Bhanot’s death anniversary, Sonam paid homage to the late flight attendant. For all those who don’t know, Neerja Bhanot passed away on 5 September 1986 and therefore, Sonam paid homage to Neerja as she posted a photo of her on Instagram. Alongside Neerja’s photo, Sonam wrote, “Her life was a gift to us all. #RememberingNeerjaBhanot.”

Speaking about the film, Neerja was based on the real-life story of a flight attendant named Neerja Bhanot. Sonam played the role of Neerja Bhanot. Neerja chronicled the real story of Neerja, an Indian flight attendant who laid her life to save other passengers when the airline Pan American World Airways was hijacked by terrorists during a stopover in Karachi, Pakistan, on 5 September 1986.
