Indian television industry has grown in leaps and bounds over the years. But it has a lot more space and strength to further flex its muscles. However, its growth is being hampered by the lack of experimentation in terms of conceptualization. Indian television industry has grown in leaps and bounds over the years. But it has a lot more space and strength to further flex its muscles. However, its growth is being hampered by the lack of experimentation in terms of conceptualization. Well, we are not being analytical; this is what Neil Bhatt –who was seen as Kesar in Star Plus' Gulaal – has to say about the industry.
“Whenever I meet any channel official or producer, I tell them to do something different. I think there's a lot to explore,” feels Neil.
So what do you exactly mean by different? "If you see, abroad they have seasons of different shows. This trend should begin in India. Furthermore, more focus should be channelized towards hiring good professionals and scriptwriters. Scripts should be fixed and should not be changed depending on TRPs or response from the market. Aisa script likho ke change karna hi na pade,” he adds.
Very noble thoughts, we must admit. So given an opportunity, will he bring any changes in the TV industry? "Absolutely. Right now, I don’t have the resources, but one day I know I will have avenues to make good shows and bring a change in the industry. Khane mein kanda zyada kyun dal diya and then people react to it; I don’t think I can make such shows. Indian viewers deserve a lot better as they are very smart," Neil ends.
Well Neil, you should definitely go for it and one day your show will rule the roost on the TRP chart!!!
