Money. That's what drives everyone in the final analysis, whether in the glamour world of acting or the hard grind of scripting and producing. Cashin' In sits down with TV celebs to know well they handle their financial matters, and tracks their spending patterns. Vishal Singh (currently seen in Aathva Vachan ) considers himself a logical spender. His friends often take advice from him on handling their finances. Vishal feels an acting career on television is more stable as compared to modelling and acting in films. Regardless it does come with its own share of uncertainties. He says that many TV actors enhance their lifestyle and increase expenses when they are doing well but when they don’t have work, they have nothing left with them. Therefore, he prefers to spend money sensibly even when he has a lot of money in his pocket. Take a glimpse at how Vishal Singh writes his balance sheet. How important is money for you? My mother once said that nothing in this world is worth losing your sleep over. I have always followed this philosophy in my life. Though I think that money is very important in today’s world, it is not everything to me. A good sleep and peace of mind are more important. Are you an impulsive buyer? Not really. First of all, I am not a shopping person. I do not enjoy shopping. It is more of a task to me. Most of the times, I shop for electronic gadgets and I do a proper research before buying any electronic gadget. What are the investments you have made? I have invested in property, shares, mutual funds, fixed deposits, insurance policies, etc. I believe in scattering out my investments rather than investing a lot of money in just one place. What is your most expensive purchase? My car a Honda Accord is my most expensive purchase. Do you feel financially secure? The current market condition itself is insecure, so naturally people will feel insecure. On a personal level, I would have felt more secure had it been a stable economic condition in the country. Who handles your expenses? I stay alone in Mumbai, so it is me who handles my expenses but I do take suggestions from a few close friends. What was your first salary? What you did with it? I had featured in a newspaper ad when I was only seven year old. I believe I was paid Rs 5000 for it and I must have probably be given toys with that money. How much money do you carry every day? With the facility of cards, one hardly needs to carry money in cash. I rely on cards for my expenses and I also carry Rs. 4,000 to Rs. 5,000. Any advice for investors? Control your expenses. Never go overboard spending money. Gold prices are going high, so it is a good investment. I think property outside Mumbai is also a good investment.
