In a time where affairs, broken marriages and flings are common; our actors become very prim proper when talking to the media. Not getting what we are saying. Let’s make it simple. On the occasion of International Woman’s Day, Tellychakkar.com caught up with a few TV male stars and enquired which woman has played an important role in their life and most of them played the safest game and referred to their mother. The first seedha sadha answer came from Anas Rashid of Diya Aur Baati Hum who said, “Without a doubt my mom Najma Begum. I thank her for she never mollycoddled me as a child. I was always taught to fend for myself. She never rushed to my rescue in play or when I was hurt. To be honest I would then resent this as my other cousin’s mothers would behave in a more motherly fashion. But now I realize that she wanted me to become strong to face the challenges of life single handedly. This is very important for men like my character Sooraj can’t do simple things like putting bandage for Bhabho has made him so much dependent on her.” Looking ahead Anas reveals that he will always take his mother’s consent before marrying: “Her yes will play more then 80% role in my choice for I can’t marry anyone outside my religion cast, culture or country for my mother will have to face social censure for the same.” Next, we spoke to Sameer Soni of Parichay and he too thanked his mother for instilling the correct values in his life. “She taught me what is right and what is wrong.” He also feels that wife Neelam has also played a critical role in his success, “But yet she still comes second to mom.” Sameer does not have to face the daily tight rope walking which most men do, balancing life between wife and mother for. “My mother is a very modern woman and she does not live with us. She is in Delhi and Chandigarh while we stay at Mumbai.” Among other woman Sameer says he is greatly inspired by Shabana Azmi. “She is not only a great actress, but an equal adapt social crusader. This however does not come in the way of her become a great wife as well.” Karan Tacker of Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai attributes his good run in the TV space to both his mother and sister, “While my mother Veena Tacker is the emotional anchor in my life, my sister Sasha provides the much needed reality check. Whenever I am facing a crisis, I don’t rush to mom as she might get hyper, but my sister is always there to help me sail through the choppy waters.” Karan V Grover again thanked his mother for teaching him patience which is very important in his line of work. “I know you want another answer, but I don’t have a wife and a girl friend, so what can I say?” Among other woman he regards his Yahaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli producer Kavita Barjatya as being instrumental in giving his career the right push. Gaurav Chopra of Uttaran while accepting the importance of his mother and sister in his rise says, “I don’t believe in the concept of behind every successful man there is a woman. There are woman who are also responsible for a man’s failure and vice versa. Men need to be very lucky to find the right woman who can make their lives heaven. I will always be grateful to my girl friend in college who encouraged me to take to acting. ” He refused to talk about the role of the industry woman in his life but said “among my colleagues, Rashmi Desai is very good and a talented co- star also brings out the best in you as well.” Be it a mother, sister, wife or colleague, women never fail to leave their mark. Happy Women’s Day!!!
