Bhumika Chawla ready to make her Bollywood comeback

Bhumika Chawla

MUMBAI: Bhumika Chawla was first seen in Bollywood in Tere Naam opposite Salman Khan.

The film’s success made us believe that the actress is here to stay, but unfortunately, after a few not so successful films, she disappeared from the Bollywood scene and lent her focus down South.

Now, Bhumika has a new South film called Ruler that releases today. The actress talks about the two big film industries in India, the differences, and her upcoming projects.

So why has she disappeared?

The actress states that she has been working non-stop since the past 3 years: 'In 2017, I did a film called MCA (Middle Class Abbayi). I got the Best Supporting Actress Filmfare nomination for the film and the SIIMA Award for Best Supporting Actress and Zee Apsara Award too.'

Then, she talks about her last year releases, 'I did Savyasachi in Telugu, U Turn which was made in Telugu and Tamil simultaneously and it’s now being made in Hindi again by Balaji.'

Well, Bhumika has been MIA from Bollywood since a long time now, so naturally, we ask the actress to tell us the reason. We also go about citing examples of how some artistes call up directors/producers asking for work to which Bhumika says, 'Unfortunately, I’m not like that. Maybe I should have done it, but I didn’t. I have not been a social person.'

Considering the fact that she has been away from the Hindi film industry, we quiz her if she misses it badly and Bhumika says that she loves working in the South because 'I started my career there and I have a certain comfort level. But at the same time, I do miss working in Bollywood because the kind of films or web series that are being made these days are really good. Bollywood is more experimental than the South film industry.'
