After having been out of the limelight for the past two months, Ritu Choudary aka Shobha of Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, made a re-entry on the eve of Mihir (Ronit Roy) and Meera's (Shubhavi) wedding. But this time around, her character has undergone a personality makeover. Gone are the days when Shobha was shown to be a weakling, who was timid and dependent. But after a leap of 20 years, she has matured and is a mentally strong and independent woman. now she is a full fledged politician, who lives apart from her husband (Nasir Hussain) and has a son from her first husband, Vishal (Rohit Bakshi) and a daughter. While elaborating on her character, a visibly excited Ritu states, "Shobha is no longer a simpleton shown 20 years ago. With time she has hardened and does not fear calling spade a spade. If she finds something wrong, she will speak out, irrespective of whom she is talking to. True to her character, she admonishes her mom, Tulsi (Smriti Irani) for having kept herself away from the family for these many years. Now the track will focus on our efforts to bring Tulsi back into the Virani family." The actor confessed on enjoying the long extended vacation by globe trotting and exclaims, "I'm very happy to be back in the Kyunkii team. It's more like homecoming for me. Besides Balaji is the best production house to work with, so I am having a gala time!"
